What a 450k (new build) house looks like across the UK in 2025
This February our popular blog is back, but with a slight twist. With ‘New Homes Week’ currently underway, we’ve decided to focus on new builds this year.
New Homes Week is an annual celebration of new build properties – and in 2025, we’re especially excited about its ‘community’ theme. Of course, we’re all about community here at Unity Mutual. We’re part of the Oddfellows family – and we’re here to help people put more money away for tomorrow by making saving and investing feel achievable for everyone.
Please note that we strive to ensure all the information in our blog about new homes is accurate and up to date. However, details can change, and we encourage you to visit the developers’ websites directly for the most current information.
What is New Homes Week?
Delivered by the Home Builders’ Federation, ‘the campaign provides a positive platform for the home building industry, new build homeowners and potential home buyers to celebrate the benefits of new build homes’.
The 2025 campaign will highlight some of the many advantages of new build homes, including:
- energy efficiency
- the simplicity of the buying process
- long-term value for money.

New Builds versus Traditional Home
Wondering why you should purchase a new build? Our partner, First Home Coach, has a wealth of advice via this article.
‘New build properties are sometimes frowned upon because they’re considered to lack character and space or be of poorer build quality.’ states the piece. ‘However, many builders have worked to improve their developments in recent years. In addition, many developers are much more conscious of their responsibility to create a community for their buyers – which means they are building homes and green spaces that meet the latest sustainability requirements’.
