About the Wood Street Mission Toy Appeal

Since 1869 Wood Street Mission have been helping local families living on a low income with children’s clothes, toys and books to improve their wellbeing and development.

During the festive season they hold a toy appeal for children aged 0-14 to help give children from struggling families a Christmas to remember.

Unity Mutual: A Tradition of Festive Giving

And Staff from Unity Mutual joined right in with the appeal by donating a variety of toys including board games, puzzles, cuddly toys and books.

Ali Holroyd, the coordinator of the appeal, said: “We’ve been supporting the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal for quite a few years now, and it makes me so proud to see all the donations coming in year after year.”

CEO, Jane Nelson, added: “Unity Mutual as part of the Oddfellows has a long-standing history of helping people and the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal is the perfect way to help those less fortunate within the community. That’s what mutuality is all about, and why we’re a mutual. We want to thank Wood Street Mission for letting us be part of the appeal and hope the children have a wonderful Christmas.”
