Funds we manage
Over the years, a number of friendly societies have transferred their policies and investment funds to us. As one of the UK’s largest and oldest friendly societies, we offer their members a secure new home.
If you were a member of one of the friendly societies below, you are now a member of a family friendly community with great financial stability and more than 200 years’ experience.
Friendly Societies that have transferred to us
In 2007 the Ideal Benefit Society (Ideal) transferred to us.
Under the legal terms governing the Ideal Fund set in 2007, a provision was established for Oddfellows to be able to close the Ideal Fund after a year had elapsed from the closure of the Ideal Insurance Company Fund (which had transferred as part of the Ideal Benefit Society in 2007). As the Ideal Insurance Company Fund closed in 2013, we have now chosen to exercise our discretion and to close the Ideal Fund, with effect from 15 December 2017.
For your information the following documents relating to the cessation are attached:
- the change to the Instrument of Transfer
- the actuaries certificate
- a summary of the cessation terms of the Ideal Sub-Fund, including the opinion of the Chief Actuary and With-Profits Actuary
- the Question and Answer sheet

In 2009 the Nottingham Friendly Society (NFS) transferred to us.
Under the legal terms governing the Nottingham Fund set in 2009, a provision was established for Oddfellows to be able to close the Nottingham Fund once the number of policies fell below 5,000.
This condition has now been met and, therefore, we have chosen to exercise our discretion and to close the Nottingham Fund, with effect from 31December 2019.

In 2011 the Schoolteachers Friendly Society (SFS) transferred to us.
